THE NETWORK NAME?

The idea is that everybody of us willing to do so WRITES here below her/his proposal(s) (name of the network and short explanation/comment) until the 30th of April 2012. In May we will democratically vote for 'electing' which will be the official name of our network for the years to come ;)

Topic: WHICH NAME DO YOU PROPOSE?

CT: City of Transculturalism

CT is read as CiTy, while is the abbreviation of the City of Transculturalism.
the concept of tranculturalism, akin to intercultualism yet a little bit different could be a defining name for the aims of our group.

Urban Faces

referring to the many different faces of the urban (urban spaces) and in the city (interculturality)
although probably one word is better

Urban ID network

just brainstorming here:
Urban ID as in 'urban idea' and 'urban intercultural diversity'

Wow! I like this very much and it could also be like this: Urban_ID standing for 'Urban Intercultural DiverCity'. In this way, we could use DiverCity too.

I like all suggestions so far and I flashed onto 'MixCity'; it's really cool; but I am a little bit skeptical about the idea of 'mixité' (sociale), because it is quite updated, I think, and above all it has not really provided consensus (It has been criticized a lot).
Urban ID is certainly more neutral. However, I am wondering if (please don't kill me about the doubts) the expression 'Intercultural Diversity' is accurate. So far I have seen (ethno-)cultural diversity or simply diversity, while interculturality (and multiculturality) refers mainly to cities, spaces, relations...
What if we tried to replace 'Intercultural' with another word starting with 'I'? But which?

You're right, Ifigeneia, 'intercultural diversity' seems to be mixing two different concepts ...
'immigration-driven diversity' probably sound too boring?

oh, and I really like the underscore you added to Urban_ID;
makes it look a lot more streetwise :)

Hi! I agree with Ifigeneia: MIxCity is really cool, but I think that the concept of Mixite' is controversial, and sometimes dangerous! I prefer more Urban_ID, still I think we should work more on the meaning of I. Immigration-driven is not very direct, and the concept of immigration, maybe too narrow, compared to migration... However, I haven't better ideas for the moment..

I like Urban_ID very much! I agree that we should work more on the meaning of the "I", but it's very attractive!

Hey everyone, sorry for tardy response. I admire all the creativity, great job! I also think Urban ID is very catchy, but on the other hand I am bit skeptic about emphasizing culture as the main aspect of urban diversities. Could it be something along the line of Urban Identities and Diversities? Either way I am happy with all the possible names proposed...

Hi Kristen, I really like your solution to the problem: Urban_ID: Urban Identities and Diversities - this way we cut all the possible interpretational problems and keep it very open. Thanks!
